The Principles of Design

I will be on a journey. Join me Marcus Meazzo, art director and operating principle of Open Door Creatives, as I dive into the exercise of design principle reflection. If you are a designer that has a need or calling to reflect, ponder, meditate etc on why we do what we do, this should be a very educational and enlightening process (myself included)…it will also get me off my duff and start writing. If any of you readers do choose to journey with me, then make sure you pick up the book Universal Principles of Design by William Lidwell, Kritina Holden, and Jill Butler (thank you fine authors) so we can dive in together. Yes, you can consider this a Julie and Julia stunt if any of you have seen the movie, but why not….it’s a good model and maybe we will actually come up with some good insite or better yet apply and post a design reflecting these principles along the way as we dive in and discuss. Feel free to address, expand upon or again even post examples of design that reflect the “Principle Topic” that I will go over from the book. I as well will be practicing what I am preaching.

So that being said, I will be talking about the infamous 80/20 rule in a day or so. Until then … design wisely.
